The usual symptoms of excessive clutch air gap are 1) Won't engage at all. 2) Engages slowly (no distinct clunk) 3) Won't stay engaged under a load (less than 1 minute). WebOct 22, 2012 · When the clutch is in "fail" mode, shut engine off and disconnect the clutch wires. Check for 12v across those 2 wires going to the clutch wires (before the clutch connector). Another thing you can try is to "not" start the engine, but have your key in the "on" position. Engage your clutch switch. You should hear a "click".
